Journalism placements in Ghana - Election Special
Work with a team of Ghanaian journalists to cover the build
up to parlimentary and presidential elections in Ghana on December
7th 2008
Ghana has been a shining beacon in Africa and as been praised by
both international and domestic observers for holding free, fair
and transparant elections.
You now have the opportunity to be part of the media team that
will cover the build-up to the elections in Ghana on December the
7th.
Like most things, Ghanaians do their electioneering and campaigning
a little differently to us at home. You will have the opportunity
to work for TV and radio media as the main parties travel to the
villages and towns of the Central and Western Regions to campaign
for votes amongst a population that is well educated and informed
about all the hot topics of the day.
Ghana is fortunate to boast a media that is relatively free to
report without restriction, so this is a unique opportunity to be
involved in reporting on the electoral process in an African democracy.
As a result, most Ghanaians have very strong opinions on the hot
topics and issues of the day and they're not shy about expressing
their opinions!
This is certain to be a colourful and lively election process and
you have the opportunity to be involved in reporting on it! You
can work in our print media placements in the capital city Accra
or in broadcast media at our TV and radio placements in Cape Coast.
You can choose your dates but we recommend programmes starting
from the beginning of November.
